The Gallery at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar presents F for Faculty, an exhibition which showcases the works of artists and designers who work, teach, create, make and research at VCUQatar.

The opening reception will be held on 14 December, 2011 at 6:00 PM and the exhibition runs until 21 January 2012. The event is open to the public.

‘F for Faculty’ showcases the creative diversity of faculty members as well as the eclectic range of materials and approaches involved in their individual art and design disciplines. The 33 faculty and staff participating in this year’s show are Annette Wendling-Willeke, Benjamin Jurgensen, Cosima Inge Storz, Della Reams, Diane Derr, Diane Mikhael, Don Crow, Donald Early, Jesse Payne, Johan Granberg, Jordan Gushwa, Lauren Maas, Lauren Pakradooni, Leland Hill, Levi Hammet, Li Han, Maja Kinnemark, Miriam Ewers, Muneera Spence, Narita Pajni Mattock, Patty Gibbons, Peter Martin, Rhys Himsworth, River Montijo, Roger Griffiths, Roman Turczyn, Ruth Bolduan, Saied Farisi, Sarah Lauck, Simone Muscolino, Thomas Modeen, Vreni Castillo and Zach Stensen. The exhibition is curated by the gallery committee.

Each year The Gallery at VCUQatar invites teaching faculty in Art Foundation and the art and design departments to submit proposals for entries into next academic year’s Faculty Focus exhibition. The annual faculty exhibition provides an opportunity for members of staff at VCUQatar to present the results of their current artistic and design exploration in a formal gallery environment, and is intended to inspire, stimulate and participate in the creative activity of the university at large. This is particularly the case with this year’s exhibition – “We decided to open the show to all faculty and staff as a way to show the creative works of everyone who makes up VCUQatar,” said Jurgensen, a gallery committee member. The show comprises a range of art and design works, including 2D, 3D and time based media.

‘F for Faculty’ is scheduled from 14 December, 2011 to 21 January, 2012. The Gallery at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar is open Sundays to Thursdays, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or by prior appointment. A reception for the exhibition will be held at the gallery on 14 December at 6:00 PM. The event is open to the public.
