Arab Engineering Bureau presented the awards for Creative Achievement and Potential and Design Excellence to two junior and two graduating senior students from VCUQatar’s Graphic and Interior design departments during a ceremony held in honor of the students.

AEB’s CEO and Chief Architect Ibrahim Jaidah presented the Arab Engineering Bureau Award for Design Excellence in Graphic Design to Alanoud A Al-Attiyah, and Amani Abbarah was the recipient of the Arab Engineering Bureau Award for Design Excellence in Interior Design. These awards, granted to outstanding graduating seniors from VCUQatar’s graphic design and interior design departments, were instituted eight years ago by Jaidah to encourage and assist graduating students start their life as designers in Qatar’s design industry.

The recently instituted Arab Engineering Bureau Award for Creative Achievement and Potential was presented to graphic design junior Ghada M Al-Suwaidi and interior design junior Noha Olivia Fahmy. These awards aim to help the junior students recognize their true potential, create leadership and encourage them to continue developing their skills through their senior year.

“I have always considered Mr. Ibrahim Jaidah as a role model in our field. Today, I am extremely grateful and honored to receive the AEB Award for Creative Achievement and Potential as it is a true motivation for my future endeavors. At the dawn of my senior year, this recognition truly represents an incentive to exceed expectations and aim even higher during my last few months at VCUQatar,” said Fahmy.

“It’s really an honor to have received this award. It feels good to be appreciated when you are only doing what you like; it makes me want to try even harder in my senior year,” said Al-Suwaidi.

“I am honored to be able to contribute to the development of our young generation of designers. Eight years have passed since the first awards have been given out and it is wonderful to see the progress recipients have made in their professional pursuits; it makes me very excited and eager to see future generations grow. I hope that this year’s recipients will follow the paths of their predecessors and very soon will be contributing with their designs to our social, economic and built environment,” said Jaidah.

“I’d like to congratulate our students on winning these prestigious awards,” said VCUQatar Dean Allyson Vanstone. “It is extremely rewarding to know that the knowledge and skills our students are acquiring at VCUQatar are preparing them for these new opportunities on their paths towards their career and life goals.  The AEB Design Excellence and Creative Achievement and Potential Awards are an important recognition of their commitment, and initiatives such as these create a foundation for inspiring and preparing young people to enter and sustain design professions,” she added.

Besides the awards, Arab Engineering Bureau and Jaidah continue to partner with VCUQatar through their participation at Tasmeem Doha, VCUQatar’s biennial international design conference, as well as through providing internship opportunities for VCUQatar students.
