Internship/Volunteer Program (Qatar Puppet Theatre Group)

Summary

An initiative of Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Qatarf Puppet Theatre Group is looking for VCUQ talents to asssit them with their upcoming shows. There are three puppet and immersive theatre shows in the making which would serve as excellent work experience opportunities for students interested in work experience in a professional theatre.

Details

First show in collaboration with Turkish/Iranian Artist.

  • Open to painters, makers and artists keen to develop their skills and experience.
  • Contribution: Set building and puppet make.
  • Work dates from 10th of July to 29th of July.

Second show in collaboration with Scottish Specialists.

  • Open to painters, makers and artists keen to develop own skills and experience.
  • Contribution: Set building and puppet make.
  • Work dates from 12th of August to 12th of September.

This show will be making use of blue screen technology. Those interested in digital media work and have strong skills in that direction may have the opportunity for part-time employment mid august to mid September with open contract for ongoing paid gigs throughout the winter. It will also be making use of micro sets, not too dissimilar to the moquettes that are built in VCU’s interior design course, though on a slightly larger scale. Those with strong skills in this direction and keen interest will be very welcome to work hand in hand with the team and there is a great career opportunity here to lead the build of the set for the project.

Third show in collaboration with Director and Puppet Maker from England

  • Open to painters, makers and artists keen to develop own skills and experience.
  • Contribution: Set building and puppet make.
  • Work dates from 3rd of October to the 3rd of November.

All who contribute will be credited in the group's PR. As they are continuously producing shows, those with skills and interest in theatre design and production who take part in the building of the shows will naturally have direct access for employment on ongoing and future projects with them.
