Career Services Manager

Department: Academic Advising & Career Planning

Summary

This position will be responsible for organizing, planning and administering the career services program.

Reports to: Senior Director for Academic & Career Advising

Major Activities & Essential Functions

  • Provide individual and group coaching in areas related to career development including but not limited to: Personal branding, CV/resume writing, portfolio preparation, interviewing, social media, job searching, and choosing/applying for graduate school; assist students with action development plans and follow-up strategy based on a series of progressive meetings and evolving interests and goals; maintain and update appointment schedules, student and employer records, and event management information via HireVCURams (student management system); maintain a library of resources for students and alumni along with the Career Services website and social media accounts
  • Implement and support career development programming on campus to include presentations, training workshops, and career fairs/expos; support the academic departments with identifying and/or creating potential internship and opportunities and assisting students with placement at work sites; develops and maintains relationships with community organizations, businesses, and alumni to seek out potential employment opportunities for students upon graduation; serve on various committees on campus and in collaboration with Education City institutions as assigned
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Academic and Career Advising

Qualifications

Required: Masters degree in career development, college student personnel, counseling, higher education or related field and equivalent experience

  • Ability to interact with a diverse student and staff population and a demonstrated use of crosscultural counseling/advising skills
  •  Arabic language skills preferred, but not mandatory

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in providing university career development services such as counseling, designing workshops and training programs, and administering career related assessments
  • Demonstrated experience in outreach and building relationships with external entities such as job agencies, businesses and community organizations
  • Experience providing career counseling services in the Gulf region preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills including presentation skills; strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work as part of a team, and a high tolerance for ambiguity
