Conceptual Design, Woodworking and Furniture Design
Maja Kinnemark joined the VCUQatar family in 2007, as an Assistant Professor in Interior Design. She has a diverse background in cabinet making, furniture design, exhibition architecture and installation art. Before her bachelor at HDK School of Design and Craft at Gothenburg University, she studied cabinetmaking full time for two years, and sculpture full time for another two years.
During her years at the university she has been a constant advocate for Social Design and her work aiming at improving the housing situation for migrant workers in Qatar has been successfully incorporated in her teaching.
She completed her master degree in Practice based Design Research at the Interior Design Department at RMIT School of Architecture, in Melbourne 2015, with her thesis project entitled Social Objects; Adaptability in Furniture Design, from Object to Spatial Proposition.
