Ashley Burton manages events, ceremonies, conferences and symposium for Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar. She joined the Qatar campus in 2011.
Ms. Burton has more than 15 years experience in communications, events, public relations, protocol, alumni relations and development. Most recently she was Director of Events and Event Marketing at Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Cancer Center in Richmond, Virginia where she led the strategy, outreach and marketing for the center’s largest fundraising event – The Massey Challenge – raising in excess of $1.2 million.
She has also held positions at a boutique Washington D.C. communications firm, NASA, NBC TV affiliate and Longwood University.
She maintains a professional certification as Certified Special Event Professional (CSEP) through the International Live Events Association and is a licensed trainer by The Protocol School of Washington to teach corporate etiquette and international protocol.
Ms. Burton received her B.A. with honors in communications from Longwood University in Virginia and a certificate in event management from The George Washington University School of Business in Washington, D.C.
She is an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and creative industries and through events and experiences; she aspires to engage as many people as possible.
