Doha, Qatar- Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar invites prospective students and their parents to an admissions reception at the La Cigale hotel at 6:30PM on October 22, 2008. The event is designed for parents and students interested in learning about what it takes to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Fashion, Graphic or Interior Design. The evening will showcase detailed presentations by the faculty from each design discipline and provide in-depth information about the university's activities and degree requirements.
The process of how to assemble a portfolio and the types work expected for the design and drawing exercises in a successful application will be explained at the reception. VCUQatar personnel will share details about scholarship opportunities at VCUQatar and the no interest loans available from the Qatar Foundation Financial Aid Office. Students and parents are invited to learn about the university application process including TOEFL, IELTS test score requirements for taking classes at VCUQatar. The faculty and administrators will also discuss the growing career possibilities in the fields of design in Qatar and the Middle East.
"Qatar is a rapidly developing country and the possibilities for young designers are endless. The students and alumna from VCUQatar have in the past designed hotel suites for the Ramada, worked on office space for Shell, designed the uniforms for the armed forces and worked on many of the print and digital publications that people use every day. I hope all those interested in obtaining a design degree take advantage of this opportunity to have a round-table discussion with faculty and current VCUQatar students," declared Can Ikram, VCUQatar Director of Admissions.

الدوحة - قطر :تقوم جامعة فرجينيا كومنولث في قطر بدعوة جميع طلاب الثانوية وأولياء أمورهم لحضور لقاءً تعريفياً بإجراءات وشروط القبول في جامعة فرجينيا وذلك في فندق اللاسيجال في تمام الساعة السادسة والنصف منمساء يوم الأربعاء الموافق 22 أكتوبر 2008. ويهدف هذا اللقاء إلى تعريف الطلاب وأولياء أمورهم بما يلزم لحصولهم على درجة البكالوريوس في الفنون الراقية في أحد تخصصات: تصميم الغرافيك أو تصميم الأزياء أو التصميم الداخلي. وسيقوم أعضاء هيئة التدريس في الجامعة بعرض مفصل ودقيق لأنشطة الجامعة ومتطلبات القبول فيها للحصول على درجة البكالوريوس.
سيتم في هذا اللقاء تقديم شرح وافي ومفصل لكيفية ابتكار الملف الشخصي الخاص بالطالب ونوعية التصاميم التي يجب أن يشتمل عليها والتدريبات والتمارين التي يجب على الطالب أدائها لتقديم طلب الالتحاق. كما سيقوم موظفي الجامعة بإعطاء تفاصيل عن فرص المنح الدراسية المتوفرة في جامعة فرجينيا كومنولث والتعريف بمكتب المساعدات المالية الموجود في مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وخدمة المجتمع.
الطلاب وأولياء أمورهم مدعوون للتعرف على إجراءات تقديم طلبات الالتحاق بالجامعة بما في ذلك تقديم اختبار اللغة الإنجليزية والاحتياجات اللازمة للتسجيل لامتحان التوفل أو امتحان أي إي إل تي أس ( IELTS) والنتيجة المطلوبة للقبول في الجامعة. كما سيقوم موظفي وأساتذة الجامعة بمناقشة إمكانيات النمو الوظيفي في مجالات التصميم في قطر والشرق الأوسط.
ولقد صرح السيد/ كان إكرام - مدير القبول في الجامعة بقوله " إن قطر بلد ينمو سريعا وستكون الإمكانيات أمام مصممينا الشباب لا حصر لها، قام طلابنا وخريجينا في السابق بتصميم الأجنحة الفندقية لفندق رمادا، كما قاموا بتصميم مكاتب شركة شل، وقاموا كذلك بتصميم الزي الرسمي الموحد للقوات المسلحة، وعملوا على العديد من المطبوعات والمنشورات والتي يقوم الناس باستخدامها كل يوم. إنني أتمنى أن يتمكن جميع الطلبة المهتمين و الراغبين في الحصول على درجة البكالوريوس في التصميم الاستفادة من هذه الفرصة التي سنحت لهم للاستفسار عن كل ما يرغبون معرفته من أعضاء هيئة التدريس وبعض طلابنا الحاليين والموجودين للرد عن استفساراتهم ".
