VCUQ recently welcomed Allyson Vanstone as their new dean.
After completing a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Communication Design, Allyson began a sixteen year commitment to design and education. She was design faculty for six years, creating and teaching studio, humanities and theory courses to students from freshman to senior year in bachelor programs at York University and Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design.
Allyson then embarked on a five year term as dean for the School of Design at Emily Carr Institute. Following her tenure as dean, Allyson accepted a position in the UAE to lead the Communication Technology Program at Dubai's Woman's College.
During the past four years Allyson has been the Chair of Design at Cornish College of Arts in Seattle.
"I am delighted to become a member of the outstanding community at VCUQ. From the first moment I met my new colleagues, advisory board members and students, I knew VCUQ was an academic environment I would be proud to join. I am inspired by the high level of commitment to education and professional exploration of contemporary design issues. My aim is to guide and support the innovative and creative endeavors of all members of VCUQ and our many collaborators." said the new dean.
"I know that all of us at VCUQ look forward to working with Ms. Vanstone. She brings valuable experience in design and higher education administration to this institution." said Charles F. Bleick, VCUQ Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

Allyson brings to us a wealth of experience and commitment to design education from Canada, the United States and the Middle East.
