VCUQ's long term friend and benefactor Ibrahim Al Jaidah from the Arab Engineering Bureau has very kindly donated two awards to VCUQ;The Arab Engineering Bureau Award for Excellence in Interior Design worth QR15,000 and The Arab Engineering Bureau Award for Excellence in Graphic Design also worth QR 15,000.
The Arab Engineering Bureau Award for Excellence in Interior Design and Graphic Design Awards will be awarded to graduating seniors who have exhibited consistent achievement in: professionalism, leadership, the ability to exert a positive influence on students, work ethic, conceptual ability, realization, innovation and presentation.
"I was looking for a way in which I could support VCUQ aside from taking part in exhibitions and lectures; I created the Arab Engineering Bureau Award for Excellence in Graphic Design to show my support for what VCUQ is doing in Qatar. I feel it is a duty to encourage alumnae to get in to the private sector, currently the role of Qatari designers working in the private sector is very minor." noted Ibrahim Jaidah.
Dean Christina Lindholm, grateful for the awards said: "VCUQ is most honored for the Excellence Awards that will be generously provided by well known Qatari architect Ibrahim Jaidah. Many companies are truly supportive of the design students at VCUQ and the recipients often say that the recognition is as important as the actual award."
