VCUQ announces its Community Class offerings in the next session of classes starting April 15.

VCUQ offers non-credit classes in order to provide educational, cultural and design opportunities to the Qatari community. This season the course offerings will include eight different classes in different design areas by noted local and international instructors.  All classes are open to both women and men and are taught at the VCUQ campus located within the Education City Campus on Al Luqta Street.

In the Interior Area alone there will be classes in Designing your Home, Contemporary Furniture and Home Objects.

Contemporary Furniture and Home Objects is taught by John Fuller. After arriving in Doha late last year, designer, builder, artist John Fuller applied his design skills to create a deck chair that would withstand the harsh local environmental conditions. "I wanted to build a piece that would last 100 years in the gulf climate," said John who was lucky to have gained the assistance of Alps Marine to help with the construction in aluminum. "The back rest started differently and after staring at the flame cone on Sports Tower I realized what I needed to change! It's the Ferrari of deck chairs, sleek, comfortable and rare, I think it shows what can happen here in Doha".

"The classes I am teaching are ideal for professionals among the community such as architects who have a passion for wood but don't have the opportunity to indulge in their passion" added John Fuller.

In the area of Graphic design there will be classes in the use of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator teaching the community members to use the same high-end software tools used by industry professionals.

Other classes offered this term include Watercolor Painting, Writing the Narrative and Survival Arabic.
