QNB has been a supporter of the Tasmeem Design Conference since its inception in 2004. The bank has also supported some of the best VCUQ students through scholarships.

Tasmeem Doha 2007 will include presentations by 15 international designers, a keynote speaker on the opening night, a discussion panel by Qatar's decision makers, breakout sessions with the speakers and design exhibitions. Participants will include practitioners, design professors,  students from academic institutions and facilities throughout the world and the general public.

This year's conference continues the discussion initiated during Tasmeem 2005 and 2006 regarding the important role design plays in shaping our identity, determining our quality of life and driving our economy. VCUQ will host a group of speakers that are representative of the best designers working today, to address this subject.

Pliny Fisk III and Dan Sturges were announced as two of the fifteen internationally renowned speakers taking part in Tasmeem Doha 2007.

Mr. Fisk III is the co-founder of the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems established in 1975, as an independent non-profit organization. This organization is now considered the oldest of its type in the U.S. with concentration in the theory and practice of sustainable architecture and planning.

Dan Sturges is an internationally recognized expert on innovative mobility solutions and sustainable transportation.  He created the most popular electric car in the United States and now focuses on integrating (digital-age) mobility options into energy and land efficient transportation systems that are customized for specific communities (or cities).  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Transportation Design from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.
