
VCUQ in partnership with the Ministry of Civil Service Affairs and Housing proudly announced Modern Home as a sponsor of Tasmeem Doha 2007, its annual design conference. The international design conference will take place at VCUQ from 5 - 8 March 2007.

Yasser Elsheshtawy was announced as one the of fifteen internationally renowned speakers taking part in Tasmeem Doha 2007.
Yasser Elsheshtawy's research has focused on environment-behavior studies, socio-cultural sustainability and architectural theory within the context of changing urban/architectural patterns of Middle Eastern cities. He has published in numerous international journals and attended conferences worldwide and was recently awarded the Journal of Architectural Education (JAE) award for best article of the year for an article titled "The Ambiguous Veil: On Transparency the Masharabiy'ya and Architecture". His most recent publication is an edited book on Middle Eastern cities published by Routledge titled "Planning Middle Eastern Cities: An Urban Kaleidoscope in a Globalizing World" which will be followed by a second part titled "The Evolving Arab City".
Tasmeem Doha 2007 will include presentations by 15 international designers, a keynote speaker on the opening night, a discussion panel by Qatar's decision makers, breakdown session with the speakers and design exhibitions. Participants will include practitioners, design professors and students from academic institutions and facilities throughout the world.
This year's conference continues the discussion initiated during Tasmeem 2005 and 2006 regarding the important role design plays in shaping our identity, determining our quality of life and driving our economy. VCUQ will host a group of speakers that are representative of the best designers working today, to address this subject.
