VCUQ in partnership with the Ministry of Civil Service Affairs and Housing proudly announced Qatar Petroleum as a sponsor of Tasmeem Doha 2007, its annual design conference. The international design conference will take place at VCUQ from 5 - 8 March 2007.
Qatar Petroleum (QP) was established in 1974 as a national corporation completely owned by the State of Qatar. Qatar Petroleum is responsible for all oil and gas industry processes in Qatar and abroad. These include exploration and drilling for oil, natural gas and other hydrocarbon substances, production, refining, transport and storage of the aforementioned substances and any of their derivatives and by-products, as well as trading in, distribution, sale and export of these substances.
Their mission is to ensure that Qatar gets maximum benefit from its petroleum resources by engaging directly or indirectly in all activities that would add value to these resources. Their objective is to contribute to the national wealth of the State of Qatar, through the safe, efficient and environmentally acceptable exploitation of Qatar's hydrocarbon reserves and through related activities.
QP sponsors and promotes several activities and outreach programs to enhance health, safety and environment education and awareness among all its employees and the public.
Terrestrial and marine fauna and flora preservation programs are a high priority to Qatar Petroleum. Programs such as Ostrich Al Reem and the Mangrove and Marine Turtle Conservation have already been established in different Qatar Petroleum operation areas, demonstrating the harmonious co-existence of industry and nature.
