
VCUQ in partnership with the Ministry of Civil Service Affairs and Housing proudly announced Qatar Islamic Bank as a sponsor of Tasmeem Doha 2007, its annual design conference. The international design conference will take place at VCUQ from 5 - 8 March 2007.
Qatar Islamic Bank is a Qatari (QIB) shareholding company was established in 1982 as the first Islamic financial and banking institution in Qatar with the main objective of providing Islamic banking services and investments in compliance with the Sharia principles and thereby achieving rewarding benefits for its shareholders, depositors, and investors. The bank also aims to contribute to the development of the national economy.
QIBendeavors to satisfy its customer needs and has, therefore, diversified its Islamic investment tools by providing various Islamic Products which include Mudaraba, Musawama, Istisnaa, Murabaha and Ijara.

Dawn Hancock and Cameron Sinclair were announced as two of fifteen internationally renowned speakers taking part in Tasmeem Doha 2007.
Since 1999 Ms. Hancock, owner and creative director of Firebelly Design Corp., has channeled her design and the talent of her young team towards serving socially conscious causes, companies large and small, non-profit organizations and fund-raising galas.
Mr. Sinclair is the co-founder and executive director of Architecture for Humanity, a charitable organization which promotes architecture and design solutions to humanitarian crises and provides design services to communities in need. Currently the organization working in six countries on projects ranging from school building, tsunami and hurricane reconstruction to developing mobile medical facilities to combat HIV/AIDS.
Tasmeem Doha 2007 will include presentations by 15 international designers, a keynote speaker on the opening night, a disscusion panel by Qatar's decision makers, breakdown session with the speakers and design exhibitions. Participants will include practitioners, design professors and students from academic institutions and facilities throughout the world.
This year's conference continues the discussion initiated during Tasmeem 2005 and 2006 regarding the important role design plays in shaping our identity, determining our quality of life and driving our economy. VCUQ will host a group of speakers that are representative of the best designers working today, to address this subject.
