VCUQ announced the launch of the Fifth Annual Design Competiton in Beirut, Lebanon.
"We are always looking for the most talented students and the Design Competition is one way we can identify them" noted Valerie Jeremijenko VCUQ Assistant Dean of Students Affairs
Zeina Hamady, from Lebanon was the 2002 winner of the design competition. "I never expected to win this competition. I had plans to study fine arts in Beirut, graduate and leave the Arab world for good. However the scholarship was too good to resist and I took a chance. I am currently a junior at VCUQ, in two years I have been able to find myself in the design world. VCUQ has given me the opportunity to interact with teachers as an individual, with needs subjective to me. This method of learning has sharpened my senses as a designer. The self-awareness I've developed as a student, artist, and business woman is something I owe very much to this scholarship." said Zeina.
VCUQ's 5th Annual Design Competition is sponsored by Sasol Chevron who will the cash prizes. Sasol Chevron is part of the world-leading alliance of companies developing new high performance, low emission gas to liquids diesel for the global transport fuels market. It is an exciting high tech industry in which Qatar is the world leader following the inauguration of the ORYX GTL plant in July of this year.
