The VCUQ Gallery presents its 2006 Faculty Focus exhibition. This year's Faculty Focus exhibition has been juried by art historian Dr. Howard Risatti, a professor emeritus at VCU School of the Arts in Richmond (USA).
The purpose of the exhibition is to provide a selected focus of the research and creativity of four VCUQ Art and Design Faculty Members: Paulo de Almeida, Kathleen Ferguson-Huntington, Kipp Greene and Don Crowe. The exhibition is scheduled from November 15, 2006-January 27, 2007. A reception with the artists will be held at the gallery on November 15, 2006 at 7:30 pm.
"The proposals were accepted based on the importance and relevance of the cultural and artistic issues raised. Consideration was also given to the overall 'appearance' of the exhibition in terms of content, utilization of space, possible disposition/installation of the work, variety of media and visual and intellectual coherence." noted Dr. Risatti.
"Being at the cross-roads of cultures, the current exhibition not only provides a window for the general public to see the work of selected VCUQ art and design faculty members, but also how the exposure and challenge of Eastern culture has influenced and enriched the work of Western artists." said Dr. J. Sokoly VCUQ Gallery Director and Assistant Professor in Art History.
