Leaders in Design

VCUQ announces it will begin admitting men into a co-educational environment beginning fall 2007. Valerie Jeremijenko VCUQ Dean of Students Affairs and Ahmad Ali Zaghmout VCUQ Male Recruitment Officer embark on a local recruitment drive throughout high schools in Qatar.

On Saturday September 16 VCUQ hosted a Leaders in Design program to kick-off the 2007/2008 recruitment activities. High school students, teachers, artists and counselors were invited to meet with design industry professionals and learn how to plan for a career in design. This event is specially orientated to introducing VCUQ programs to prospective design students. This was an ideal opportunity for male and female high school students interested in registering with VCUQ to get a chance at first-hand interaction with leaders in the design profession.

"This is the first year we are accepting male applications and we are really excited about it, not only for VCUQ but for the whole design field in Qatar. Over the next year we are going to make a concerted effort to educate both men and women about the possibilities of design in the Gulf and the Middle East" said Valerie Jeremijenko.

"This is a big opening for male students here in Qatar, it's something that many male students have been waiting for and planning for, a long time. In Qatar we have many males who take a big interest and are serious about design" added Ahmad Ali Zaghmout.
