VCUQ welcomed the forty eight students that make up the Class of 2010. Twenty three of the students are Qatari citizens and the remaining twenty five are from Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Sudan, Canada, UK, Demark and Peru.

The welcome given by faculty and administration marked the climax of an intense and exciting week of orientation activities, where both students and parents were informed about the challenges and diligence involved in earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.

"The class of 2010 is an exceptional class, in terms if English language abilities and portfolios. This year's selection process was extremely competitive; a large emphasis was placed on student's portfolios. We believe the class of 2010 will be fine designers and contribute hugely to the community." said Valerie Jeremijenko, VCUQ Assistant Dean for Students Affairs.

"Admission to VCUQ becomes more competitive every year. We are looking forward to welcoming this class of highly qualified students who have demonstrated good academic skills, English language competency and background in art that suggests the potential to succeed in our program." added Charles Bleick, VCUQ Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

The comprehensive week of activities had the theme of 'creative discipline'. Activities included 'Family Night' for incoming students and their families, as well as sessions that included highlights of the preceding year's activities, sessions on cross cultural awareness and a math's test. In the evening the students were treated to ice skating and bowling. One of the highlights of the week was a sunset cruise on two chartered dhows where students and faculty participated in a 'get to know you session' that allowed them both to learn about each other.

As well as the sessions organized by VCUQ, the Qatar Foundation held an orientation day specifically for international students that make up the class of 2010.
