The VCUQatar Image Resource Library (VCUQatar-IRL) Mission
VCUQatar-IRL offers support to Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar in teaching, research, scholarship and administrative projects by providing digital images, slides, and other audiovisual materials. To provide knowledge and support to VCUQatar faculty and staff as we transition into a digital collection through technical documentation and training
Strategic Goals
- Acquire, preserve, organize, and provide access to materials that are intellectually and historically significant to the University as defined in the VCUQatar Archive Statement of Purpose.
- Connect materials that cannot live together physical through virtual presentation.
- Facilitate access to new collections co-created by the library and the educators to support course content and other educational programming.
- University wide collaboration through the library's digital portal by sharing collections.

VCUQatar-IRL currently holds over 103,000 images in both digital and 35mm formats. Image access and use is limited to VCUQatar faculty, staff, students and researchers affiliated with the University.

*Group and individual training for:
- Image Database use: ARTstor, AdFolio, Luna Insight, Oxford Art Online
- Personal Image Management
- Color Management
- Image presentation in the classroom

Access
- Luna Insight: 16,000 digital images from the VCUQatar image collection.
The collection is continually growing so check back frequently. 90% of the VCUQatar images have not been placed online yet so if you don't find what you are looking for please contact the QIRL staff with specific image needs. - ARTstor: More than a quarter million images available from an expanding list of museums, archives and image galleries.
- AdFolio: Provides information on over 18,000 ad agencies and contains over 50,000 ads from around the world.
- 35mm Side Collection is located in room 105 and is available to faculty, staff, and approved students. The collection is open from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. After hours access is available only to faculty that have completed the 'Faculty Profile' form available on the VCUQatar Visual Resource Site (on-campus access only).
