2010 Student Design Contest : Now Open for Entries
This year's theme: Everything is Useful
Once we tell ourselves absolutely nothing can or should be wasted it is amazing what kind of ideas we will come up with. Take a look at what people in your community are throwing away and consider innovative ways in which these items could become useful products.
» Take everyday discarded or recycled materials and re-design them into functional products.
Contest prizes
VCUQatar will award the following scholarships and cash prizes to the winners of the 2010 VCUQatar Design Competition for the best design or drawing representing this year's theme.
- 2 full four year Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned Scholarships for Creativity
- 8 First Prizes of $700 each
- 10 Second Prizes of $500 each
- 22 Third Prizes of $300 each
How to enter the contest
The 2010 design competition is open to all eligible students who fit the following criteria: Students who are in their senior year of high school who will graduate in May/June of the calendar year 2010 and be ready to enter university in the August of the same year, are eligible to enter the competition. All files must be uploaded on or before January 10, 2010.
Qatar Foundation Scholarships & Financial Aid
Qatar Foundation offers need-based financial assistance through the Hamad Bin Khalifa Financial Aid Program to help students meet the financial obligations of their universities. Financial aid given to students through this program is in the form of loans.
In exchange for the loans awarded, students will be expected upon graduation to repay the full amount of the loan according to a repayment plan or to participate in a paid service program at an organization in Qatar approved by Qatar Foundation.

Merit based Scholarships
Rising sophomores, juniors and seniors can apply for a limited number of merit based scholarships, which include the Dean's Scholarship and scholarships funded by community donors such as the Qatar National Bank Scholarship and the Toyota Scholarship.
