Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar is starting this seasons Community Classes in October and course offerings include classes in different art and design areas by noted local and international instructors.

Community offerings at VCUQatar continue to expand. Over the summer the university offered classes for students aged 9 to 17 which filled up very quickly. The current set of classes features the hugely popular adobe package again as well as classes in silver jewelry, oil painting basics, photography, ceramics, graphic design principles, traditional Indian art and print media design, among others. Textile printing design and tie and dye technique are some of the classes offered in Arabic.

“VCUQatar’s community classes are an excellent way to deepen existing skills, develop new abilities, or discover hidden talents,” said Executive Director of Communications at VCUQatar, Meike Kaan. “We intend for our programs to provide educational, cultural and art & design opportunities to a wide range of communities in Qatar.”

Classes begin mid to 25 October and finish by 21 December. All classes are open to both women and men and unless otherwise noted are taught in English at the VCUQatar building located within the Education City campus on Al Luqta Street.

Proceeds from the classes are donated to the VCUQatar scholarship fund. Payments for classes can be made securely online (http://www.qatar.vcu.edu/programs-courses/community-classes/) or in person at the VCUQatar Student Affairs office between 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM. Seats are limited and can only be reserved with full payment.
