VCUQatar Hosts Application Night- Last Chance to Apply to VCUQatar

Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar will host Portfolio Review Night on 22 February, 2011 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Saffron Hall at VCUQatar.

The event is designed for prospective students interested in a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Fashion, Graphic, Interior Design or Painting and Printmaking.

The Portfolio is an important aspect of the VCUQatar application process. Prospective students are required to present a portfolio of their best work that demonstrates their strengths, interests and individual growth. Portfolio review night will give applicants an opportunity to present their portfolios to VCUQatar faculty representatives for review and comment. They will also learn how to improve and make their portfolio and VCUQatar application more competitive. Applicants will have the opportunity to learn about application procedures, fees and scholarships as well.

Portfolio reviewers will not make admission decisions; they will give students feedback on the quality and range of their work and provide them with valuable advice about the types of items that should be included in a strong portfolio. Each applicant has a chance to meet individually with a faculty member to discuss their work. All review sessions are conducted in English on a first-come first-served basis.

VCUQatar personnel will be available to provide details about scholarship opportunities at VCUQatar and the no interest loans available from the Qatar Foundation Financial Aid Office. The 2011 Design Competition, which was launched in October 2010, offers students the opportunity to compete for two full four-year Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Scholarships for Creativity to attend VCUQatar. The scholarships include, tuition, housing and academic expenses for students attending VCUQatar.

To be eligible for one of the two full four-year Scholarships, applicants are required to submit complete VCUQatar application including English competency test results (TOEFL/IELTS) and portfolio by the March 1, 2011 deadline. The competition is open to all students who are in their senior year of high school who will graduate in May/June of the calendar year 2011 and be ready to enter university in the August of the same year.
