Two graphic design faculty were honored at the recent Design Incubation's inaugural Communication Design Educator's Awards

Basma Hamdy was recognized for excellence in research and selected as ‘runner up’ in the category of ‘scholarship’ for her project ‘Walls of Freedom: Street Art of the Egyptian Revolution’ in the Communication Design Educators Awards by Design Incubation. Projects that demonstrate originality, rigor, impact, scope were selected by a panel of distinguished jurors based on merit and high academic achievement. The award acknowledges contributions to communication design’s theoretical, critical, historical and/or visionary foundations. 

Denielle Emans was recognized for excellence in teaching and selected as ‘runner up’ for her project ‘Intercultural Design Collaborations in Sustainability’ with Kelly Murdoch-Kitt in the Communication Design Educators Awards by Design Incubation. Eman’s research advocates not only for cross-cultural literacy within the design education curriculum but, also for sustainability’s complex sociocultural and environmental issues to be addressed using design thinking. Projects that demonstrate innovation in education, instruction, content delivery, and student learning outcomes were selected by a panel of distinguished jurors based on merit and high academic achievement. The award acknowledges contributions to visionary curricular development, outstanding instructional quality, novel teaching methods, successful assignments and projects, and impact on student and alumni success.
