AEB Presents Awards to VCUQatars Graduating Seniors

Maryam Yousuf Al-Homaid , Hadeer Samir Omar, Fatma Abdulla Al-Remaihi and Sahwa Awad El Nakhli were the recipients of the Arab Engineering Bureau Award for Design Excellence in Graphic Design while Miriam Magdy Greiss and Noora Abdulaziz Yacoub Al-Muftah received the Arab Engineering Bureau Award for Design Excellence in Interior Design. Mr. Roy Mathews, AEB’s general manager for Operations presented the awards on behalf of AEB to the graduating seniors. “Encouraging young talents is one of AEB’s philosophies and I am very much pleased that in line with the country’s rapid development, numerous opportunities are also emerging in the field of education and career development,” said Mr. Mathews during the ceremony.

The Arab Engineering Bureau Design Excellence awards, granted to outstanding graduating seniors from VCUQatar’s graphic design and interior design departments, were instituted four years ago by AEB’s Managing Director Mr. Ibrahim Jaidah to encourage and assist graduating students start their life as designers in Qatar’s design industry. “The young generations are the leaders of the future,” said Mr. Jaidah. “AEB’s Design Excellence Award celebrates the student’s distinguished achievement among their contemporaries. The recipient of the award shall be the envoy to the present generations as she embodies our vision, pursuit for academic excellence and support to the Education Sector of Qatar. AEB believes that this is the best way to discover the future leaders for the coming generations,” he added.

Valerie Jeremijenko, assistant dean for Student Affairs at VCUQatar said, “The AEB Design Excellence Awards are a really important recognition of our students’ commitment and investment in their future,” adding she appreciated all the collaborative initiatives between AEB and VCUQatar. Besides the awards, AEB regularly offers internships to VCUQatar students and Mr. Jaidah has participated in VCUQatar’s Tasmeem and Mousharaka international design conferences as keynote speaker.
