Why Study at VCUQatar?
The VCUQatar art and design experience is enriched by an exciting array of workshops and guest lectures by well-known visiting designers from around the globe. Designers like Bruce Mau, Dan Sturges, Stefan Sagmeister, Irma Boom, Mohammed Harib from the graphic and product design world; Fred Dust, Karim Rashid, Eva Maddox, Yasmeen Lari, Pliny Fisk III from the world of interior design and fashion designers Emanuel Ungaro, Carla Fendi, JJ Valaya, Manish Aurora, Reem Acra among others have lectured, critiqued and interacted with students to complement VCUQatar’s highly dedicated team of professors.
As well as the studio spaces for jewelry, ceramics, video and photography, a lighting laboratory, wood workshop, print shop, a library and smart classrooms, the university provides a wireless environment with laptops, either Macs or PCs, and software for all students.
Students have the extraordinary opportunity to participate in field study trips which includes attending conferences, visiting universities, companies and exhibitions, both in the Gulf region and internationally. Students have visited Dubai, Lebanon, Milan, Amsterdam, Germany, London, France, Thailand, United States and Japan. VCUQatar students also have the chance to spend a semester abroad at the VCU home campus in Richmond. Students can also participate in a fully funded spring break trip to Richmond or take a 3-credit class there in the summer.
