The Writing Center

The Writing Center offers one-on-one writing support for students in any discipline ranging from preliminary planning through all the steps of the writing process, including help in using English as a second language. Experienced writing tutors are available to help students develop ideas for papers, to teach organization of clear and concise thought and to aid in choosing a writing style to appeal to the intended audience.

Because writing clarifies thinking, the mission of the VCUQatar Writing Center is to help all VCUQatar students use English to:

clarify their thinking,
organize their thoughts, and
convey their thoughts appropriately to an audience.

To accomplish this mission, the Center provides a lab where students may access email and computer software as well as work individually on their writing and other online assignments.

Students also may schedule 30-minute one-on-one appointments with a writing instructor for help with the writing aspects of their assignments. The Writing Center instructors work closely with VCUQatar faculty to ensure that students receive writing guidance that reinforces classroom instruction and achieves assignment intentions.
