About this class

This is a fun, hands-on, workshop about planning and preparing a special themed party. You will explore creative ideas for themes and learn how to make your own invitation cards, decorations, gift bags and food for your occasion. On the last day, we will use our creations and have a party to celebrate!  

Note: this course is taught in Arabic, however English speakers are welcome too

Class Outline
  1. Choosing the theme and the essential components of the party. Making the invitation card
  2. Designing and making decorations
  3. Designing and making gifts and activities
  4. Designing and making food, setting up the party space and partying!!!!

Materials needed

Items to buy for this class

Participants are required to buy their own materials beforehand and bring them to every class

  • Liquid UHU glue or UHU glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Ruler

Materials provided to students in class

  • Permanent colored marker pens including black
  • Plain and colored card paper
  • Tracing paper
  • Colored tissue paper
  • Plain paper
  • Foam cups and plates

On occasions, there may be some more materials to be bought and brought in if and when advised by the instructor.

Dana El Ahdab

Dana comes from a background in visual communications and design with professional experience in corporate design, animation and children’s TV. In recent years, she developed a personal interest in designing for non-governmental organizations and the educational sectors. She has a Masters degree in Design Education and has taught design and animation courses at VCUQ and Northwestern University in Qatar.

Her love for scuba diving and everything related to the sea is inspiring her current research and practice in merging environmental conservation with critical design thinking.
