01) Freehand Speed Sketching

Freehand sketching is one of the skills that we must not miss—even in the digital era that we are living in today!

In this course, participants will explore various media and methods of freehand sketching. You will understand proportions, depth, line quality. You will also acquire the confidence in sketching that gives character and expression to your sketches.

  1. Introduction and Exploration—Fun with different sketching media 
  2. Sketching Found Objects
  3. Sketching Combinations of Objects
  4. Introduction to Perspective Drawing
  5. Sketching Blindfolded
  6. Final Drawing/Sketches

Please note: VCUQatar reserves the right to cancel classes for which not enough participants are registered. Already paid fees will be refunded.

Please do not purchase materials until VCUQatar has sent final course confirmation.

Items to buy for this class

Participants are required to buy their own materials beforehand and bring them to every class

  • Artist Quality Sketching Pad
  • 1 no of HB, 2B, 4B and 6B pencils 
  • Charcoal (2 thin and one thick sticks will suffice)
  • Black Sketch Pens (4-5), fineliner feltpen
  • Black Permanent Markers (2), (one end chiselled tip, other end pointed tip)

There may be some more materials that you might have to buy during the course as instructed by the lecturer if and when needed, only

On occasions, there may be some more materials to be bought and brought in if and when advised by the instructor.

Sultana Jesmine is a Masters Candidate at VCUQatar. She is an Interdisciplinary Designer, Interior Designer and Fashion Designer. Jesmine loves to travel and to learn from different cultures, which in turn enriches her as an individual and her design studies. Continuous learning and teaching are one of her many passions. She enjoys sports and adventures, from kayaking and hiking to basketball and high jumping, and much more.
