This class is for children who like to take pictures and want to learn how to do it better!

Learn the basics of photography and improve your practical and technical skills. Express yourself with your photographs and make your camera your best friend!

Please do not purchase materials until VCUQatar has sent final course confirmation.

Items to buy for this class

Participants are required to buy their own materials beforehand and bring them to every class

  • Your own Digital SLR (or) compact camera and lenses
  • USB data transfer cable and USB 
  • Paper Pad for note taking
  • Pen

On occasions, there may be some more materials to be bought and brought in if and when advised by the instructor.

Aparna Jayakumar

Aparna Jayakumar, 33, is a photographer from Mumbai now based in Doha. She was a student of Art History and Photography at the Aegean Center for the Fine Arts in Italy and Greece. Previously, she studied Photography, Film and Psychology in Mumbai. She was nominated for the international photography award Prix Pictet in 2009. Her work has been published in Monocle, Christie’s Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Travel+Leisure, BBC TopGear and other publications. Sh e has shot for brands such as Hermès, GEOX, Qatar Airways, Vodafone, Ford, Cadbury's and publicity stills for films with directors such as Mira Nair, Sooni Taraporevala and Vishal Bhardwaj. Ja yakumar taught Photography to media students at Sophia College, Mumbai from 2009-13, and has been an instructor at the Anjali Photo Workshops for the children of Cambodian NGO Anjali House. She founded the Bombay Photo Club and ran photography events in the city featuring photographers from the world over.
