BFA Admissions Requirements
- English language proficiency based on TOEFL or IELTS exam scores
- Official school transcripts
- Art portfolio
- Personal essay and a letter of recommendation
- Copy of passport or residency permit
- In-person interviews may be requested
All supplemental materials (excluding exam scores and transcripts)are uploaded electronically by the applicant using the VCUQatar online application and only complete applications will be considered for assessment.
English language proficiency exam
Applicants should register and complete the exam well in advance of the March 1st application deadline. Generally, applicants with a score of 80 or above on the internet based TOEFL exam and 6.0 or above on the IELTS exam are competitive.

Official School Transcripts
Applicants must submit official and complete academic transcripts from all secondary and/or universities attended. Transcripts in languages other than English must also include a certified English translation. These transcripts must include all grades from the last three years of courses. Generally, applicants with an 85% or higher on Qatari Thanawiyya system or at least 3 AS levels on the British system, or a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on the American system are competitive.
If admitted, students will also be required to submit a final transcript to VCUQatar from all secondary and/or universities attended, before fall classes commence
Personal Essay and Letter of Recommendation
Applicants are required to upload a short essay of original writing that describes a significant person or experience that influenced the applicant’s decision to become a designer or artist. In addition, applicants must provide to one referee the VCUQatar recommendation form that when completed is uploaded with the application. Preferably this referee is the applicant’s art teacher or guidance counselor, or employer.

Passport Copy
All applicants are required to submit a legible copy of their passport. If you are a non-Qatari living in Qatar then you are required to submit a legible copy of your residency permit. Legible copies of the applicant’s passport (residency permit) can be sent by either email, fax or in person.
