Ibrahim Jaidah Award - 2011
- Rabah Abdelmagid Ahmed El Sawi, Senior, was awarded the 2011 Arab Engineering Bureau Award for Excellence, by Ibrahim Jaidah of AEB at VCUQatar's graduation commencement luncheon. The award is given annually by Mr. Jaidah to the student who most exemplifies design excellence in the graduating class. Rabah was chosen to receive the award by a vote of the Interior Design faculty.
My Education City Charity Collection - 2011
- Interior Design students sold a record number of tickets for the ECUNITED4AFRIKA dinner. Students collected over 11,000 QAR for the victims of famine in Somalia.

Best Product Design in the Young Designers competition - INFDEX 2010
- Reem Zirie, ID Senior, won first prize for Product Design in the Young Designers competition for Product Design at INFDEX. Her prize included a trip to the Salone di Mobile in Milan, Italy. Her submission was a light fixture that she had designed for her lighting class, IDES 323.
Qatar Prix de l’ Arc de Triomphe - June 2010
- Abdulla Al-Gosaibi, Senior, winner for the designs of both the Qatar Prix de l’ Arc de Triomphe and the Qatar Arabian World Cup trophies.
Doha Tribeca Film Festival – October 2010
- Abdulla Al-Gosaibi’s 10-minute film was shown at the Doha Tribeca 2010 Film Festival at the Katana Cultural Village. Abdulla was chosen by the Doha Film Institute to travel to NY where he studied film making for one month with experts such as Robert Di Nero. Upon his return, he began crafting his 10-minute film that was shown at Tribeca.
