RESEARCH ASSISTANT
|

Qatar Unified Imaging Project (QUIP) is seeking a Research Assistant.
This is a temporary position supported by soft funding. Working days and hours vary according to project needs, could include nights and weekends.
|
Job Description
-
Collaborate with a diverse group of cultural and research experts to create a comprehensive index of cultural collections in Qatar, United Kingdom, India and Denmark.
-
Contact research sites and conduct quantitative and qualitative surveys following QUIP methodologies.
-
Utilize multiple controlled vocabularies and multiple languages to collect, normalize, and store research data from remote sites using a browser based input form to collect mandatory data point entries; populating a structured database to create output using Encoded Archival Descriptive (EAD) document type definition Dublin Core fields and XML structural markup.

This is a temporary position supported by soft funding. Working days and hours vary according to project needs, could include nights and weekends.
This is a grant funded hourly position working days and hours will be led by demand.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Qualification & Experience:
Looking for a creative and analytical person with in depth knowledge of digital photography.

Must have previous experience with both studio and outdoor photography.
-
Experience working with medium format cameras.
-
In depth understanding of lighting techniques used in photo documentation.
-
Experience with color managed workflows, and process control.
-
Experience with image editing software. In depth knowledge of Qatar’s history and culture.

Must be bi-lingual Arabic/English both written and oral.

ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR
|
|
The admissions counsellor will be working under the direction of the Director of Admissions and will be responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating programs to recruit and/or retain targeted groups of students including but not limited to local, regional, international high school students. The person will also be responsible for providing admissions information and services to prospective students.
This job requires successful interaction with inter-departmental staff, vendors and clients to coordinate daily activities and facilitate the timely completion of projects/ assignments.

Key Responsibilities
-
Recruits students for the BFA and MFA programs locally, in the region as well as internationally.
-
Familiarizes with the presentation materials and ensures that the information provided during the presentations is accurate and laid out in a professional manner.

Works collaboratively as a team to promote VCUQatar locally, regionally and internationally.
-
Advises applicants on all aspects of the admissions process including portfolio development and standardized testing.
-
Organizes foreign road shows assigned by the supervisor in collaboration with the education city regional counselor committee and responsible for logistics like food, hotel, flight, student exhibits, invitations to students, schools, brochures.
-
Develops and maintains relationships with schools and counselors locally, regionally and internationally.
-
Assists in the coordination of all VCUQatar and QF recruitment events and represents VCUQatar at these events as assigned.

Assists accepted non-Qatari students with financial aid paperwork and coordinates each application through the QF financial aid website.
-
Responds to queries from interested applicants in person and via email.
-
Conducts a tour of VCUQatar and residence halls for interested applicants.
-
Enters applicant data into the student information system and evaluates the academic credentials of VCUQatar BFA and BA candidates.

Assists the accepted qatari students with their scholarship paperwork for the supreme council of higher education.

Submits reports or briefs of each student recruitment travel to the supervisor within the first week after return from the trip.

Maintains and updates VCUQatar student recruitment calendar.

Provides assistance with MFA recruitment in the absence of the international admissions officer.

Performs duties as assigned by the supervisor

Overtime and/or weekend work may be required. Some travel related to client meetings, proposals & negotiations could be required, as agreed upon by your supervisor.

Under the general direction of the graphic designer, the junior graphic designer is responsible for designing and producing consistent, high-quality collateral materials to support the effective implementation of the VCUQatar strategic communications plan.

Key Responsibilities

Provides concept development, design and execution of print publications. Duties include: graphic design, providing print specifications, pre-press and press check.

Prepares graphics and images for multiple web and print applications

Participates as an integral part of Communications team, ensuring design and customer service standards are met

Supports senior graphic designer by contributing ideas, process, critique and discussion

Assist senior graphic designer with aesthetic direction of publications in accordance with graphic standards

Assists in maintaining file management system, project archives, and procedural manual as needed to reflect the operations of the department.

Operates within the defined budget and deadlines for each project, striving to gain budget

Collaborates with client, writer and supervisor to bring clarity and accuracy to content when necessary
