About this class

Welcome to the wonderful world of clay. Bring your creativity to the fore. Experiment with shapes and colours. Make your own bracelets, key-chains and designer plates.

Class Outline

Day 1

Introduction to clay work.

Making keychains of your choice out of clay.

Day 2

Painting the keychains after firing.

Introduction to ceramic bracelets.

Day 3

Designing the ceramic bracelets using mini-modeling tools.

Day 4

Making colourful bracelets suiting your measurements.

Introduction to ceramic designer plates.

Day 5

Making plates using different techniques like image transfer, scraffito.

Day 6

Learning about underglazes and glazes and how to use them.

Day 7

Learning about new firing techniques.

Introduction to mosaic work.

Day 8

Mosaic from ceramic tiles.

Materials needed

Items to buy for this class

  • Flat synthetic bristle brushes – sizes 2 & 3

On occasions, there may be some more materials to be bought and brought in if and when advised by the instructor.

Sangeeta Deepu

Sangeeta Deepu is a multi-faceted handicrafts professional with mastery in ceramics and leather works.

She is passionate about sharing her rewarding experience and is a dedicated teacher. Sangeeta has perfected her own unique method for making ceramic bracelets. She also make her own mosaics for decorative artwork for any space.

Sangeeta has been featured in the Gulf Times Community Sunday Conversation titled Cath’art’ic,  in the cover story Discovery via Creativity in the Qatar Tribune Supplement Chillout. Also in the Society magazine of the Gulf Times.
